General Manager of Health, Fitness & Aquatics (HFA)
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager of Health, Fitness & Aquatics (HFA) will be responsible for adult programming, child/youth programming, aquatics programming and for the ongoing development and delivery of all Health, Fitness and Aquatics programs and partnerships to all ages of YMCA participants in accordance with YMCA of Regina’s policies, procedures, and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide input and achieve the YMCA’s strategic goals through participation on the Association’s Senior Leadership Team.
- Achieve and maintain the quality of all Wellness, Group Fitness, and Aquatics programs delivered by the Association.
- Ensure high-quality member service and experience.
- Lead innovation and development of new and existing member programs.
- Ensure the successful operation of the health, fitness, aquatic, and recreation elements of the Northwest/Rochdale centre.
- Develop and implement plans to serve and engage the community through discussion, participation and involvement in community groups, committees, and partnerships related to the needs of the YMCA of Regina.
Program Development and Implementation
- Maintains current knowledge of health, fitness, and recreation through research and new developments in the fields of health and fitness and membership retention strategies.
- Investigates and develops partnerships within the community to provide quality programs.
- Ensures clarity of policies and procedures with respect to admissions, attendance, and program participation.
- Develops, monitors, and adjusts annual departmental operating plan.
- Ensures quality programs are delivered to our members.
- Participates in the development of association’s strategic plan.
Human Resources
- Approve time off requests of direct reports.
- Recruits, hires, trains and develops staff according to guidelines established in the YMCA of ReginaPolicy•Conducts employee performance reviews as required.
- Delegates work and responsibility to employees.
- Plans and implements programs for professional development for staff•Assists staff in preparing daily, weekly, and yearly plans.
- Oversees day-to-day scheduling of all health, fitness, and recreation programs, routines, and work schedules.
- Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure effective communication and program coordination among program staff.
- •Conducts regular volunteer and volunteer committee meetings to ensure effective communication and development of program and facility policy and procedures.
- Ensures employees of the YMCA of Regina work safely in accordance with the policies and procedures as outlined in the YMCA of Regina’s Health and Safety manual.
Financial Management
- Develops, monitors, and adjusts annual departmental operating budgets.
- Approves departmental expenditures up to $2,500.
- Reviews monthly budget to actual results, providing explanations for significant variances.
Member Relations
- Responds to member questions or concerns courteously and efficiently and resolves issues effectively.
- Coordinate efforts with fthe acility and maintenance team to ensure members receive regular updates regarding fitness centre repairs and facility updates.
- Works with the General Manager, Marketing, and Community Engagement to develop and implement marketing strategies for programs.
- Ensures all written communication with members is current and readily available, such as pool schedules, fitness class schedules, and brochures.
Administration
- Completes schedules, plans, reports, and forms accurately and submits them within the necessary timelines.
- Researches and applies for grants and other funding available for health, fitness, aquatics, and recreation programs.
- Writes and submits proposals in a timely manner to secure funding for wage subsidies, program equipment, and new programs.
- Ensures clarity of policies and procedures with respect to admissions, attendance, and program participation.
- Ensures appropriate allocation of resources and timely completion of projects and tasks.
Qualification requirements:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with our diverse membership, staff, volunteers, community stakeholders, and partners
- Post-secondary Education – University or College Graduate from a related discipline; Business Administration, Public Administration, Recreation Management/Studies, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc
- 2-3 years of previous General Manager experience
- 10 years of related experience in developing and delivering recreation/fitness programming
- First Aid/CPR Certification•Current Criminal Record Check is required

Personal Trainer – Part Time

Responsibilities:
- Set up and design training plans for personal and group training clients
- Set up and run a weekly group fitness class that showcases your specialty in training (ie. TRX, Kettlebell, mobility, yoga)
- Conduct facility tours and fitness assessments with new members and training clients
- Assist in designing programs and presentations for specialty populations
- Lead YThrive fitness assessments and training sessions
- Offer the highest levels of customer service to meet member needs
- Promote fitness and personal/group training to grow the YMCA fitness brand
- Provide excellent motivation and communicate effectively to support clients and other staff
- Assist as directed with cleaning and maintenance tasks related to Fitness
Requirements:
- Kinesiology Degree preferred (completed or in progress);
- Current CSCS, CSEP-CPT, Can Fit Pro or YMCA Individual Conditioning Level II;
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- A Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Ability to fully own personal schedule;

The YMCA of Regina is looking to add lifeguards & swim instructors to our exceptional Aquatics team to help deliver exceptional membership experiences. We’re looking for dedicated Aquatics professionals, if this is YOU, keep reading!
These roles are primarily responsible for carrying out lifeguarding & instructional duties that enforce the supervision & control of all pool activities, as well as the safety standards and cleanliness of the Aquatics facilities. Candidates must be well versed in emergency response plans, crisis management for emergencies, as well as effective communication & problem solving.
Swim instructors are also accountable for lesson planning & leading swimming classes focused on a variety of skill levels & age groups.
Requirements:
- Must have current National Lifeguard Award certification
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/ AED
- Current YMCA Swim Instructor competencies or Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) including vulnerable sector check, dated within 3 months of hire
- Three (3) professional references
Candidates MUST be available for a minimum of eight (8) hours per week. You must be flexible to work daytime, evenings & weekends & attend in-house training sessions periodically.
