Building Maintenance Operator – Moose Jaw

We are looking for a skilled Building Maintenance Operator to provide general maintenance at our various locations throughout Moosejaw. You will be responsible for performing general building upkeep & applying basic fixes to equipment & building systems, & ensuring the buildings remain functional. Some of the main responsibilities of this role involve responding to maintenance requests, performing general regular maintenance duties, & ensuring virtually all areas of the building, including the flooring, ceiling, lighting, walls, HVAC & plumbing are in good working order.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Fall Safety certification.
  • Scissor Lift Operators certification.

Requirements:

  • Must have valid class 5 drivers license & have personal vehicle for transportation between locations.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand & power tools.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, & HVAC systems.
  • Ability to prioritize & manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills & attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina & the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Criminal Record Check prior to first day of work & dated no more than 3 months before hire date.

Facility Supervisor – Northwest

The Facility Supervisor is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of a single facility, supervising a team of 10 staff members. This position ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the facility by combining leadership with active participation in maintenance tasks. The role requires technical expertise, excellent team management skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of facility staff.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to the facilities team, ensuring they have the necessary tools and training to effectively manage their work.
  • Schedule facilities staff to maximize operational hours, provide oversight on staff vacation time, and approve payroll forms/information.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Effectively identify and resolve any maintenance issues and small projects.
  • Adhere to daily and weekly preventative maintenance schedules to ensure smooth operation of the location.
  • Schedule internal and external work, including preventative maintenance for all YMCA-owned systems such as boilers, pool pumps, hydraulic systems, HVAC, and plumbing/heating subsystems.
  • Perform daily maintenance of a commercial pool, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Manage full-cycle third-party contractor processes, including three-quote vendor tendering.
  • Perform basic repairs on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Undertake carpentry projects such as building, repairing, and installing structures and furniture.
  • Patch, paint and drywall as required.
  • Maintain outdoor spaces, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming, and debris removal.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools for daily tasks.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a maintenance role with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience with a commercial pool is an asset.
  • Pool Operators certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Fall Safety certification preferred.
  • Scissor Lift Operators certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications in specific trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical) are an asset.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for transportation between locations.
