Director of Food Services – Regina and Moose Jaw

The YMCA of Regina is a non-profit charity open to all. We are dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. We focus our program delivery on our three pillars of service: health and fitness, community development, and childcare.

The Director of Food Services oversees food operations across locations in Regina and Moose Jaw, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, nutritious, and age-appropriate meals and snacks to childcare centers and before-and-after school programs. This role involves managing a team of seven staff members spread across multiple locations, developing and maintaining menus, coordinating large-scale ordering, and collaborating with childcare center directors to meet dietary needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and retain food service staff, providing ongoing support and development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that aligns with Association values.
  • Create and maintain nutritious, age-appropriate menus for childcare centers following Ministry regulations around menu planning and before-and-after school snack programs.
  • Collaborate with childcare center directors to tailor menus to dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure adherence to YMCA and regulatory guidelines for meal planning.
  • Develop and implement efficient food ordering processes that align with budgetary constraints and menu requirements for all sites.
  • Oversee inventory management to minimize waste and maintain supply levels.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, including proper storage, handling, and cleaning measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Work closely with childcare center directors to align food services with program goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering professional growth and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food services and team leadership.
  • Foodsafe certification (or willingness to obtain and renew every three years).
  • Proven experience in menu planning and large-scale food ordering.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple locations and with various stakeholders.
  • Criminal Record Check prior to first day of work and dated no more than 3 months before hire date.
