Michele Arscott – Vice Chair Two
Michele has been a member of the Regina YMCA for over 25 years where she has learned to love yoga and enjoyed learning the new exercise equipment as it has evolved and changed over the years. One or more of her family are at one of the YMCA facilities every day of the year. Michele is proud to say that both of her children have had the opportunity to join the YMCA as babies starting out in the Splasher swim class and have grown up through all the various fitness and leadership programs that are available. Her youngest son enjoyed the daycare program until Grade 1 and currently goes to the Before and After school program through the school year. Michele is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 20 years of leadership experience focusing on financial management in the public sector. She is currently working as the Executive Director, Corporate Services with the Ministry of Agriculture. Her hope for the Regina YMCA is that the organization continues to be one of the strongest community leaders in Regina, a place that all families can enjoy together.
Sean Gawley – Treasurer
The Y has played an important part in my family for at least four generations. My grandmother was President of the YWCA. Growing up in Toronto I was active at the YMCA, where I learned to swim and was in the judo program. Before moving to Regina, I lived in Yellowknife for many years. There isn’t a YMCA in the NWT, but there is a YWCA and my partner, Jodi, ran programs there that focussed on helping marginalized women get an education and a job.
We got a family membership at the Y when we moved to Regina in 2011. Both my children swam with the Marlins, and have taken advantage of summer programs, Smart Fit as well as the home-alone and babysitting programs. As a family we take advantage of the facilities at all three Y locations.
I have a background in media and management, and currently I am the publisher at Coteau Books in Regina.
I joined the Regina YMCA board this summer. My involvement at the Regina Y has come full circle from starting as a 6 year old scamper camper at Camp Ta-Wa-Si, working at the Y in my youth to joining Sally’s Y’s Moms group. Some of my closest friendships were started running around the hallways on Saturday mornings in between swim and gym classes.
I am a business owner, Certified Financial Planner and founder of Women Wine Wealth Regina. It was at the Regina YMCA as a youth that my leadership and confidence skills were cultivated. Today I encourage and promote the legacy of charitable giving to ensure our YMCA is here for future generations. Ask me about all of the great things the Regina YMCA does for our community. I love to share.
