Cardio & Strength Instructor (Moose Jaw)

Description: To provide high quality programming to our membership through drop-in classes (Body Blast, Bootcamp, HIIT etc.) at the YMCA in Moose Jaw on a consistent basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Be at least 10 minutes early for scheduled volunteer times.
  • To inform the direct supervisor at least 24 hours in advance if I can’t instruct my class
  • To aid in cleaning up at the completion of my class

Requirements:

  • Completion of all Volunteer documentation and original criminal record check must be submitted prior to first volunteer shift. Criminal check must be the original, dated within 3 months.
  • Annual completion of Child Protection training during specified date range for completion
  • Renewal of Standard First Aid- CPR/AED every 3 years
  • Minimum time commitment of one fitness class per week.
  • Current fitness instructor certification (YMCA, SPRA, or approved organization)
    • Renewal of YMCA fitness certification every 3 years completed by having an assessment done by supervisors.
    • 16 Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s) every 2 years to maintain YMCA certification
  • If having their own external certification (i.e. SPRA), maintaining certification and providing documentation as required.


Child Minding (Moose Jaw & Regina)

Description: · As a Child Minding Volunteer, you will play an important role in supporting our youngest members. Child Minding is a valued YMCA service where children aged six weeks to 10 years are cared for by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Through creative and physical play, you’ll help foster growth, confidence, and joy in every child.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage children in developmentally appropriate play experiences that encourage learning and fun.
  • Uphold YMCA Child Safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families, reflecting the YMCA’s core values.
  • Assist with program setup and cleanup, including light housekeeping duties.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled shift and notify your supervisor at least 24 hours in advance of any absences.

Requirements:

  • Annual completion of Child Protection training during specified date range for completion
  • Must be at least 14 years of age.

As a fitness volunteer, you are an integral member of our YMCA and act as a representative of our organization and to the community. We appreciate your help in providing support to members in their health journey. As a valued member of the YMCA team, you can expect the following.

  • Honour your commitment to be available as agreed, except in cases of illness or emergency, and notify Association staff as soon as possible if you are unable to fulfill a volunteer commitment.
  • Ask questions to ensure that you understand a role/task before accepting it.
  • Carry out your tasks efficiently, effectively and to the best of your ability. Ask for help when you need it.
  • Maintain positive interactions with members, program participants, staff and other volunteers.
  • Participate in orientation and training sessions deemed necessary by the YMCA of Regina
  • Maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of all proprietary, privileged and personal information that you may be exposed to while serving as a volunteer.
